*Discussed possible collaboration of LPU with Canadian Universities and Colleges for various study programs

Jalandhar: Minister (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Ms Sara Wilshaw visited Lovely Professional University today. Mr Gurbans Sobti, Trade Commissioner Consulate General of Canada, accompanied Ms Sara. Visiting Canadian Minister utilized this opportunity to discuss possible collaboration of LPU with Canadian Universities and Colleges for various study programs. This discussion was extended to work towards setting up Centre of Excellence in Hydrology and Bio-energy at LPU. Both the dignitaries were accorded warm welcome by LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal &Pro Chancellor Ms Rashmi Mittal.
In her current role, Ms Sara is responsible for Canada’s commercial relationship with India and the 8 trade offices Canada has located across the country. Having many years experience, and being the Director of Trade Commissioner Service Support division and Director-General in the Office of the Chief Trade Commissioner, Ms Sara is continuously making efforts in laying the groundwork for Canada’s Global Commerce Strategy. She appreciated the research activities at the university and wished to have possible tie-ups with the university.
Trade Commissioner (Consulate General of Canada) Mr Sobti informed that Canada and Punjab are already doing trade in many areas. The possible collaboration with LPU will further strengthen this with ushering of many new opportunities in the areas of education and research.
Thanking the guests for their kind visit and considerations thereof, Chancellor Mr Mittal said: “We assure all co-ordination for pursuance of possible tie-ups and collaborative research works. With the establishment of Centre of Excellence in Hydrology and Bio-energy at LPU, we will strive to make our country a renowned leader in developing renewable energy techniques.”
