*“LPU aims to be included in top 200 universities of the world”: Chancellor Ashok Mittal
*More than 50 years old BITS Pilani was also included in the ranking
Jalandhar: Asia’s premier monthly magazine on ICT in Education-Digital Learning has ranked Lovely Professional University as top private university in overall ranking with 441.74 scores. These scoreshave been amassed for Academic reputation (90.52), Academic Excellence (95.80), infrastructure, faculty, international exposure etc. This numero uno position of LPU has been published in the volume 9, issue 07 of the reputed magazine, where list of top 60 private and deemed universities of India is declared. LPU has won over BITS Pilani by 9.83 scores, SRM Chennai by 36.91, Amity University by 69.74, Thapar University by 115.11, and Sharda University by 122.27 scores. According to UGC, there are 159 private universities, and MHRD (Ministry of Human Resources Development) holds that there are also 130 deemed universities in India.
Editor in Chief of the Magazine, Dr Ravi Gupta mentions: “Equipped with the global best practices, technology enabled pedagogy and industry linkages; private universities have potential to take the Indian higher education to new heights.” It has been added: “As such we rated top 60 private and deemed universities under five broad categories. We made a list of universities from the websites of UGC and MHRD. We collected data from the official websites of these institutions based on factors like year of establishment, number of recognitions from regulatory bodies, courses offered, disciplines, foreign collaborations, study exchange programs etc. We validated the data by considering, student reviews on online portals, and views of Human Resources (HR) department in several corporate houses and the age of the university.”
Feeling very happy on the top ranking of the University, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “We are regularly striving by accepting bigger challenges and taking quality of education to required new heights. We feel that by taking various initiatives to create a new benchmark, we have been successful in consolidating position and reputation of the university not only in the country but world over also. For this we are continuously focusing on research based learning, more foreign collaborations, industry specific curriculum etc.” He also emphasized: “LPU yearns to create leaders who should be able to respond to different challenges and environments. Moreover, we keep on contemplating and assessing ourselves when LPU will be able to let India notch a place in the top universities of the world.”
