*Collaboration to facilitate academic, research, student/faculty exchange, and high technology transfer between the two universities
Jalandhar: The oldest University of Nepal, Tribhuvan University (TU), with total students' strength of almost 4 lacks, and LPU have signed a Memorandum of understanding for promoting quality education to students of their respective countries. This collaboration will commence and facilitate academic research, student/faculty exchange, and high technology transfer between the two universities. In this regard, TU’s Rector Prof Guna Nidhi Nyaupane, Registrar Dr Chandra Mani Poudel and the Executive Director Centre for International Relations TU Dr Bal Mukunda Bhandary visited LPU to sign the MoU. The visitors met LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Ms Rashmi Mittal, Vice Chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar and other senior functionaries to have mutual discussions. TU’s Rector, Registrar & Ex Director also visited LPU’s different laboratories, central library, research and development centre, student accommodations, got know-how about surveillance, security, university management systems and allied infrastructure at the Campus. They also had talks with many Nepalese students who have already been studying at LPU under different study programs of their choice. The MoU was signed by TU Rector Prof Nyaupane & LPU Registrar Dr Monica Gulati, on behalf of TU & LPU, respectively.
Feeling happy on collaboration, Prof Nyaupane exclaimed: “Although we do not have many partners, yet we have gone for collaboration with LPU in India. In fact, we share India’s culture and knowledge, and there are many senior staff members on TU’s rolls, who have completed one or other part of their education from India. Keeping in the line, in the first phase of our collaboration, we are going immediately for faculty exchange and joint collaborative programs. This is a very good initiative, as LPU also has a large number of students which ensures the continuity of relations to maintain progress.”
LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal held: “LPU has been continuously attracting Institutions from around the world to collaborate for excellence and innovation in research, knowledge exchange and development. In this context, LPU has been making global presence, through engagement with leading universities of other countries, and I am much pleased to see this MoU signed, which supports our mission to establish LPU as a global university. At present, we have globally minded students from about 26 countries, around the world.” “He further assured the visitors that the talented Neplese students/faculty would be offered great opportunities under study exchange programs.”
Illustrative, established with the objectives of accumulating, advancing and disseminating knowledge and to promote research, Tribhuvan University (TU) established in 1959, is a public university situated in Kirtipur, Kathmandu. Enrolment of students from diverse geographical areas and cultures, for the year 2012-2013, has made TU as one of the largest in the world. It offers more than 4,400 courses for intermediate, undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. The university has 85 integral colleges and more than 600 affiliated colleges throughout Nepal.
