Jalandhar: Talking to Media, the Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Mr. Ashok Mittal has informed that the Faculty of Education & Humanities of the University is going to host three-days’ first World Conference ‘Educon 2012’ of Global Educational Research Association (GERA) from 6th to 8th April at the University Campus: “More than 1300 Delegates and research students from top Educational Institutions of Indian States and foreign lands have volunteered for active participation. During this, key Speakers from US, UK, Switzerland, China, Pune, Mumbai will address the present knowledge community on the theme of “Shaping a Future Classroom: a Global Perspective”. Going for many Plenary, Concurrent & Dialogue sessions, Panel Discussion and on-line paper presentations, the conference is to provide an opportunity to the participants to deliberate, disseminate and share on an emerging issue of what a future classroom should be in relation to inputs, dimensions and outlook.”
Mr. Ashok Mittal also said: “It is a dire need of the hour that the educational institutions ought to provide teachers with professional development platforms to build skills and knowledge of global nature enabling them to cope up with the changing demands. Through the Conference, the Educators would need to gain an insight into the latest advances which are changing the very way that the teachers teach and the students learn. The views of inspiring speakers and delegates, and the outcomes of networked and group activities will encourage debate, discussion and reflection of how new ideas can shape future classroom practice on the lines of a shift from 3 R’s -reading, writing and arithmetic to 4 C’s -communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creative problem solving.”
It is worth noticing that GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION (GERA) is keen to observe great objectives: to develop and promote educational research; to provide an international forum for discussion of problems related to educational research; to conduct workshops, seminars, conferences; to disseminate findings of research; to publish journals, monographs and other types of literature on educational research; and, to carry out all such other activities as may be conducive to the attainment of these objectives.
