Jalandhar: Lovely Institute of Distance Education (LIDE) organised fashion cum musical show ‘Dressed to Impress’, at LPU Campus today. This event was the effort to showcase that the distance education students should also get equal opportunity to reveal their knowledge and talent. More than 120 latest and classic designs prepared by the students of the department were showcased. The fashion parade was designed under six Rounds, where more than 30 student-models walked on the ramp along with national models. The cold evening also witnessed a warm spectacular musical ramp show with exquisite performances. ‘The Punjabi Princess of Cinema’ Britain born actress Mandy Takhar, famous singers Madan Maddi, Surkhaab Maan (Kade taan Has Bol ve, ‘Tera Naa’ fame) & Music Director G Sonu known for “Tu Sajjna” added glamour & luster to the show. On this occasion, Chairman of the Lovely Group, Mr Ramesh Mittal, Vice- Chairman Mr Naresh Mittal, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal, Pro Chancellor Ms Rashmi Mittal, Vice Chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar, Director General Er HR Singla were also present.
Feeling elated on the organisation of a dazzling fashion parade by the distance education students, Mr Ashok Mittal said: "In this event, the distance education students have proved their capability which is no less than the regular students. This generation has indeed introduced itself to the fashion world, music and dance with an impressive festive show organization. Such a professional exposure will certainly add more confidence into them to enter the industry.” He also wished a very bright career to all the participating students!”
Started with Sufiana Round, the other five rounds of the show were Indo Western, Innovative, Anarkali, Western and Office Wear. All displayed splendid creations by the students of Fashion Technology of LIDE. The Innovative Round earned much applauds as the students revealed their creative power in it with use of casual material like leaves plates etc. In between the rounds students performed with great messages of social awakening. The singers sang popular numbers from their albums for the entertainment of the audience. The famous numbers remained Kade taan Has Bol ve, Tera Naa Tu Sajjna etc. One of these was against drug addiction which is related to the youth. Students also presented scintillating Bhangra and compelled the spectators to take bhangra steps along with them.
Some of the participating students of the Fashion Technology Surpreet, Kiran, Rohit, Ranjit, Deepika said: "This participation has made us knowledgeable towards latest trends and traditions prevalent in Fashion Industry. We have indeed learnt much for our career. Now we hope to get chance to work with top brands like Monte Carlo, Tommy Hilfiger, Lilliput, Madame, Neva Inner Wear and such others of immense repute.”
