Jalandhar: Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC), Mr S L Bansal, visited LPU and interacted with its MBA students and faculty. Mr Bansal has not only been credited with widening the illustrious banking scenario in India, but has also been instrumental in flowing and handling best banking practices even in UK and USA. Mr Bansal talked about banking operations and availability of various career opportunities in Banking Industry. Creating a highly interactive environment during his 2 hours lecture, he let students learn the ability of diffusing crisis with practical solutions. Mr Bansal also shared with them his banking experiences of over 36 years and also told them about the achievements made by OBC in past few years.
Mr Bansal addressed students’ queries related towards priority sector lending and new initiatives taken by OBC to meet the affordability challenge in pursuing higher education. He also explained about managing non-performing assets, impact of globalization on bank’s performance, and the role of public sector banks in economic growth of the country. Students came to know much through Mr Bansal’s expertise in matters of credit and operations. Mr Bansal also talked about global meltdown & India’s strong Banking Industry.
While welcoming and introducing the elite-guest to the students, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal mentioned: “It has really been the rarest of rare opportunities when a CMD of a big bank, of such a rank and reputation, has himself enriched our students through his acumen of long banking industry, expertise, of near four decades. What to talk of students, even I myself have been benefitted for certain banking operations of much importance.” Chancellor Mittal also talked high of CMD Bansal for his heading OBC’s various regions: “Mr Bansal is a perceptive and judicious banker of high national and international repute. His dynamism and human approach are the hall-marks of his great persona. On his this special visit, I am sure that each and every word of his valuable delivery will bring more pragmatism for our students, under enrichment with great thoughts of high utilities.”
Illustrative, OBC has its on campus full-fledged operational branch, ATMs, as well as day-long door steps service through OBC’s Mobile ATM van, to help students and other members of staff save their time. On this occasion, MBA students, Ashima Mahajan, Ankita Aggarwal and Mukut Joshi said: “This lecture session has really made us learn a lot from an authority on banking.
