Jalandhar: In order to bring scientific community, academicians, technocrats and other innovators together on to a single meaningful research forum; Lovely Professional University, along with PTU, is going to host 3rd Bhartiya Vigyan Sammelan & Expo-2012, from 11 to 14th of October, 2012. To be organised, under the theme of “Science for Global Development”, this mega science conference will be held in collaborative efforts along with Vijnana Bharti, Punjab Technical University and Punjab State Council of Science and Technology.
About 3000 eminent scientists and academicians are likely to participate in this Science Congress. The Chief Patron of the ‘Sammelan’, Chief Minister S Parkash Singh Badal has recently reviewed the preparatory arrangements for the same. Punjab Government has also announced a grant of Rs 50 Lakh for this event.
Talking to media, the Chancellor of LPU, Mr. Ashok Mittal said: “The unique feature of this scientific conference is to provide common podium to technicians, artisans along with scientists, policy makers and others from ‘structured organizations’. These prominent researchers in their respective fields will share their thoughts, culled from their researches, for the betterment of the society.” Adding more information, he said: “The main focus of the conference would be on environment & renewable energy; science & technology; agriculture & horticulture, veterinary sciences, water & energy management; Indian Medical Systems & Tele medicines; Bio-, Nano- & other emerging technologies.” In addition, this conference is also going to have discussions on vital issues concerning Punjab, namely drinking water, replenishment of fast depleting underground water table and cleaning of Ponds.
CM Punjab, S. Parkash Singh Badal has already asked the University that this prestigious event should be organized in such a manner that it should left an indelible impression on the participants as well as on the youth to imbibe scientific temper. He has also assured generous support and co-operation on behalf of the state government to make this mega event a grand success: “The need here is to make optimum utilization of this healthy platform in mitigating the problems like potable drinking water, health care, hygiene, depleting water table, air, water and vehicular pollution confronted by the people of the country in general, and Punjab in particular. He has also asked to include the topic of plantation of trees, during the conference, in order to increase the forest cover in the state.
