* EDB provides students opportunity to decide early to join University
*Students will be benefitted as 2012 fees would be applicable to all students applying under EDB
*Application/registration deadline for EDB is 31st May 2013
Jalandhar: For over a generation, ‘Early Decision Benefit’ programme has allowed students world-wide to develop their future plans earlier. In US it is common with the Universities to get students decide to join university earlier under EDB. In turn, the students focus on the institution providing the best educational foundation for their individual needs, advantages and aspirations. Based on the same practice, LPU has also introduced US based EDB, this year, which allows students to take decision and register earlier with the University. Like the prevailing practice in the west, students enrolled under EDB will be benefited as fees of the year 2012 would be applicable. The application/registration deadline for EDB is 31st May 2013.
To apply under EDB programme, students will have to appear for the online tests NEAT-UG 2013 in the case of B.Tech and NEAT PG 2013 for MBA Programmes. Tests are being conducted in the university campus as well as at more than 70 locations across India. Only those students who clear the tests would be able to apply under EDB programme.
Talking about EDB, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal informed that LPU always wants to help meritorious and aspiring students: “LPU has endeavored strenuously to bring best practices of US in India, and bringing EDB is another such an initiative.” Mr Mittal also mentioned that EDB is a unique platform where a student not only pays the lower fee by taking early decision, but is also benefitted by getting higher scholarship in certain cases. Up till now hundreds of students have been benefited from this programme.
One of the early decision makers from Tamil Nadu Gopal Krishnan said: “I have read about early decision benefit programme in US universities. I personally feel that EDB has been designed to provide freedom to students in choosing their programmes. Seeing the same programme in India at LPU, I have availed this opportunity and it is surely going to benefit me much.”
