Actor Karanvir Bohra encouraged school students on Conclusive day of PSEB Competitions at LPU

Jalandhar: Punjab School Education Board’s (PSEB’s) state level co-curricular competitions for 17 events concluded today at the campus of host Lovely Professional University. Actors Karnvir Bohra and Teejay Sidhu encouraged school students through their special enchanting performances. The Chief Guest of the day was PSEB Vice-Chairman Dr Suresh Tandon.  Encouraging the students Dr Tandon said: “Students should note that healthy competitions teach us to be always up to the mark so that we may excel others. However, irrespective of our victory or defeat, we should devote to such activities to uphold our values, traditions, customs, and culture.”
Appreciating the blueprint and motive of the competitions as devised by the board, LPU Director General Er HR Singla said: “PSEB deserves great applaud for its strenuous efforts to bring time-needed mind-set ups in school students. I am sure that students must have learnt a lot during these three days and this big platform will be helpful to tender-aged boys and girls throughout their life.”
Mrs Manjit Kaur mother of a participant Jyoti from Govt Girls Sr Sec School Amritsar holds:  “It is indeed a great thing that our sons and daughters of even primary and middle class level performed on a University stage. As young minds imbibe soon, our wards will certainly grow in a better way by seeing success and progress at LPU Campus.” Similarly participating students & teachers from Singh Sabha Kanya Pathshala Abohar, Anju, Sheenu, Rekha and Damanpreet are of the view: “We are fortunate to project ourselves before an audience of the largest university of India.”
 Illustrative, about 3000 school students from more than 200 schools gathered at LPU to exhibit their talents. It was first time that LPU had been entrusted by PSEB to host state level mammoth conduction of competitions. Held annually at block, district, regional and state levels, these activities have due ‘academic weight-age’ for the participants.
 The results of the final day for Class IX to XII are:  In Calligraphy competition Lovepreet stood first (Govt.  Girls Sr. Sec School,  Gobindgarh), Anmolpreet Kaur stood second position (Baba Farid Public Sr Sec School, Bathinda) and Manpreet Kaur stood third position (Govt. Sr Sec School, Jagraon, Ludhiana). In Shabd Gayan competition Harbag Singh & party stood first position, Mani Kaur and Bharatdeep party stood second and Amritpal Singh & Kulvir

Kaur & party stood third position. In Gidha competition Puneet Sharma & party stood first position (Govt. Sr Sec School, Nabha, Patiala) Navreet Kaur & party stood second position (Pioneer public Sr Sec  School, Sangrur) and Daljeet Kaur & party stood third position (Govt. Sr Sec School, Punjabi Univ campus, Patiala). In Declamation competition Gurinder Kaur stood first position (Shahed Baba Khushal Singh Sr Sec memorial, Lambra, Jalandhar), Navneet Kaur stood second position (Ramgarhia  Sr Sec School, Ludhiana) and Navroop Kaur Sidhu stood third position (Baba Farid Public Sr Sec School, Bathinda). In War Gayan competition Jaspreet Singh stood first position, Gurwinder Singh stood second Upinder Kaur  stood third. In G.K. Test competition Kamaldeep Singh stood first position (GTB Khalsa Sr Sec memorial, Malout), Palwinder Kaur stood second position (Baba Farid Public Sr Sec School, Bhema) and Komal Rani stood third (Sunflower model High School, Patiala). In Malwai Gidha competition Amandeep Singh & party stood first position Prem Prakash & party stood second position Gurpyar Singh & party stood third. In Kavishari competition Kamaldeep Kaur stood first position, Jobanbir Kaur stood second position  and Gurpratap Singh stood third. In Poetry competition Kirandeep Kaur stood first position (S. Baldev Singh Sr Sec School, Fatehgarh Sahib), Amrita Singh stood second position (Govt. Sr Sec School, Nangal) and Anureet Kaur stood third (Baba Farid Public Sr Sec. School, Bathinda).

PSEB Chairperson declared second day of State level Co-Curricular Competitions open at Lovely Professional University

Jalandhar: First lady Chairperson of the Punjab School Education Board, Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal declared second day of state-level co-curricular competitions open today at Lovely Professional University. Praising rural scenic depictions at LPU stages for hosting the massive competitions and encouraging the students Dr Dhaliwal said: “Such big-stages take students to greater heights by growing them in all rounded personality. I am happy to see motivating environment at LPU which is giving way to the feelings and talents of young students of Punjab. Students will learn many good practices like commitment, vision, exposure, latest technology etc being adopted on such a vast campus. I advise students to learn from competitions and grow to be on higher daises in time to come.” Dr Dhaliwal also revealed about her commitment to over-haul the Board system by bringing sea changes in books, software utilization, technology, examinations, online registration, certificate verifications etc as per the need of the hour. She desired anti copying campaign to take a form of movement by awakening all strata of the society.
 Winner students of Category-II (Class VI to VIII) of four regions-Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bathinda & SAS Nagar performed for 12 competitions- Shabad Gayan, Declamation, Painting, Calligraphy, Folk Songs, Solo Dances, Giddha, Kavishri, War Gayan, Bhangra, General Knowledge, Poetic-Recitations.  Students are displaying the best talents and attracting the audience through their marvelous and mesmerizing performances. In one act plays they presented vulnerable social themes like Female feticide & molestation, Drug-Addiction, Corruption, Unemployment, War-Horrors, Poverty etc which filled all on-lookers with deep emotions.  Kavishri, Poetic recitations and War Gayan brought chivalry, Shabad Gayan spread spirituality, GK contests swelled intelligence, Calligraphy & Painting beautified the environ, and Giddha & Bhangra displays let all dance along with the participants. The conclusive day on 28th November will witness 17 competitive events for Category-III (Class IX to XII) .
                                                                                                   


Results of Today’s events are – In Solo Dance competition Mansi stood first (Sr. Sec School, Punjabi University, Patiala), Taranpreet Kaur stood second (Gobind Model School, Puri, Sangrur) and Khushbu stood third (GN Public Sr Sec School, Ludhiana). In War Gayan competition Harjit Singh & friends stood first position, Harmandeep Kaur and friends stood second and Simranjit Kaur & friends stood third position. In Calligraphy competition Amandeep Singh stood first position (Sr Sec School, Uddat Saidewala) Harsatdeep Kaur stood second (Baba Farid Sr Sec School, Bathinda) and Simran Kaur stood third (Sarkari Kanya Sr Sec School, Sohian Ludhiana). In Shabad Gayan competition Pavneet Kaur stood first, Mehak stood second and Taranpreet Kaur stood third position. In GK Test competition Manjinder Kaur stood first (St. Soldier Sr. Sec School, Jandiala Guru), Aastha stood second (Bharti Model Sr Sec School, Rampura Road, Bathinda) and Mehakjot Singh stood third (Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Sr Sec School, Ludhiana)

 Jalandhar:  Three-Day state-level co-curricular academic competitions of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) inaugurated today at four campus-venues of host Lovely Professional University.Stretched from today 17 competitive events will conclude on 28th November in which near 3000 students from 200 schools will participate. Director Academics (PSEB) Dr Amrita Gill was the Chief Guest of the day and Secretary (PSEB) Er Gurvinderpal Singh Bath was the Guest of Honour who inaugurated the competitions by lighting of the lamp. Thanking LPU for providing world-class university environ for the growing children of Punjab, Er Bath asked each participant to nourish competent thinking, competitive feel and policy to be a better human resource for the society. In another strong message he asked students, parents and teachers to join hands to abolish copying practice altogether, if there is any left . Impressed with successful hosting of four- time regional competitions, PSEB has entrusted LPU to further host state-competitions for first time. Er Bath honoured LPU Director General Er HR Singla for co-operation and co-ordination in organization of competitions. Er Singla assured PSEB authorities for all support in such future organizations. Deputy Director PSEB Mr Ram Lubhaya, DEO Kapurthala Mr Roop Lal, Programme co-ordinator S Harjinder Pal Singh were also present on the occasion.
On the inaugural day, winner students of Category-I (Class I to V) from four regions-Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bathinda & SAS Nagar competed. These students performed for Shabad Gayan, Declamation, Painting, Calligraphy, Folk Songs, Solo Dances; whereas, senior boys & girls displayed their worth through mesmerizing Gattka and One Act Plays. Direct entries in category-III (Class IX to XII) to Sammi Dance & Gattka for Girls and Malwai Giddha for boys have been introduced for the first time.  Gattka by girls attracted all the on-lookers and reminded them about the heroic culture of Punjab which is equally contributed by women. Stretched from today these 17 competitive events will conclude on 28th November in which near 3000 students from 200 schools will participate.
Women Gatka participants Sukhveer, Vanita & Manpreet from Sant Waryam Singh Memorial Public Sr Sec school Mohali revealed their excitement in displaying bravery of Punjab.  They said: “It is indeed great that we have got a great chance to perform before the spectators of the largest University of India. We have been inspired, and have developed a great confidence within ourselves.”  Illustrative, held annually at Block, District, Regional and State Level in chronological order; these co-curricular PSEB activities have due Academic Weight-age for the participants. These competitions help the participants in having reservation of seats for all academic and professional courses at university as well as school Levels, as per their talent potentialities.  
Results of Today’s events are – In Calligraphy competition Sumit Kaur stood first (Guru Amardas Sr. Sec School,  Goindwal Sahib), Sandeep Kumar stood second position (Primary School, Patra, Patiala) and Jaspinder Kaur stood third position (Sri Guru Amar Das Sr Sec School, Kapurthala). In Shabd Gayan competition Aashma stood first position, Krishinder Kaur stood second and Jaspreet stood third position. In Solo Dance competition Diljit Mann Singh stood first position (S D Public School,Batala) Navjeet Kaur stood second position (Sr Sec Model School, Patiala) and Jaspreet Kaur stood third position (Doaba Khalsa Model Sr Sec School, Jalandhar). In Declamation competition Lovepreet Kalra stood first position (S N Public Sr Sec School, Ludhiana), Rajwinder Kaur stood second position (Dr Asha Nand Arya Sr Sec School, Nawashahr) and Komalpreet Kaur stood third position (Central Public Sr Sec School, Ghumann).

LPU’s School of Architecture & Design (LSAD) lifted Overall Trophy at North Zone NASA -2013 Competition

Jalandhar: The School of Architecture & Design (LSAD) of Lovely Professional University brought new laurels to the university by lifting coveted overall trophy at National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA)’s Zonal competition ‘Autumn Leaves Convention’ held in Jaipur. Tamara Cosovic from Serbia, the Professor in Charge of the winning team, led 52 LPU students in India’s largest architectural competition which sees maximum participation from reputed Architecture Institutions. This year students from 31 Universities of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Gujarat had participated, and near 1,500 student members from the zone witnessed the event. The winning LPU team will now proceed to display competitive strength at 56th Annual NASA Convention to be held in Hyderabad. 
The competition had 3 major parts: Knowledge Quiz, Main design, and Art & Craft activities. In addition, abilities for sports were also seen amid seminars and workshops. LSAD won prizes for Loam (Clay Modeling competition), Space beyond Geometry (Model Making), Think Negative (Photography), Higher than the Tallest (High Structure Making), Shades of Gray (Sketching), Touched (Volleyball), Main design & Knowledge Quiz. On scoring maximum from these varied competitions, one of the top internationally reputed architects Ar. Yatin Pandya handed Overall Trophy of the Convention to LSAD. Many architecture giants also visited the event, held workshops and seminars and were a part of the Jury.
Congratulating the winners, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “Our School of Architecture & Design is one of the oldest departments of the university and hones students’ talent in all aspects of architecture. The winning of this coveted trophy by beating students from so many universities of the zone proves students’ hard-working efforts and concrete guidance from the school. I am happy to note that students have become able enough to present themselves on next levels of competition to win and shine.”
Illustrative, NASA is one of the largest communities of architectural students in Asia and has 260 colleges of the architectural community as its members. To give ample opportunity of exposure to students about latest trends and developments in the field of Architecture, NASA conducts Zonal and National Conventions every year and its activities have been divided in 06 zones. NASA facilitates exchange of ideas and skills between students under a range of trophies, and each trophy has its own specific aim for students to compete and grow.
